The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament has directed to file a case against the officers of the National Database and Registration Authority for allegedly accessing and breaching the personal information of the Army Chief and his family.
According to the report of Dawn newspaper, a meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Member National Assembly Noor Alam Khan. In the meeting, extreme concern was expressed over the media reports related to the violation. Chairman PAC also summoned the NADRA chairman.
Noor Alam Khan said that those who are involved in the theft of documents should be behind bars, military intelligence and ISI should be part of the investigation in this matter, it should be determined that the personal identity of the army chief’s family should be determined. Earlier in a vlog, two journalists, Aizaz Syed and Umar Cheema, claimed that in October 2022, personal data and travel information records of Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s family were allegedly accessed by NADRA officers.
The Chief of Army Staff was serving as a lieutenant general at the time and was a candidate for a top army post, NADRA confirmed in a statement three days ago, accessing the personal information of the army chief’s family and were stolen and the statement said that an investigation is underway to identify the officers involved in the breach.
