Islamabad: Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, during the hearing on the petitions for simultaneous elections across the country, remarked that the court would not withdraw its May 14 decision because withdrawing the court decision is not a joke.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial is hearing the petitions. The three-member bench includes Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice remarked that political leaders are coming, no one should be cramped, and put more chairs, Mullah Karim should give long wisdom so that they can make the right decisions. May we be included among the righteous and remembered with good words after our departure.
The Chief Justice remarked I pay tribute to Sirajul Haque, you have started a good work, may Allah bless him and the court will contribute to this good work.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi appeared in court on behalf of PTI. The Chief Justice said, “Do you support the proposal of the court?”
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he respects every word of the court, and the country has to move forward according to the constitution. Always tried to find a way out and follow the Constitution. The nation has accepted your decision, let’s see what the government’s approach is, our party is with you on the protection of the Constitution.
When the hearing resumed after the break, the Attorney General appeared before the court.
The lawyer petitioner Shah Khawar advocate stated that the leadership of most of the political parties is present in the court, so it would be appropriate for the court to hear all the leaders.
The Chief Justice remarked that he was grateful for the visit of the political leaders it is an honor for the frontline leadership to come to court, there is anxiety in the nation, so if the leadership solves the problem, there will be peace. If the court gives an order, there will be complications, if the political leaders solve the problem with understanding, it will be a blessing.
Justice Umar Bandyal remarked that the Ministry of Defense has also requested that the elections should be held in one day and the petitioner is also saying that the elections should be held simultaneously. But there was a boycott and according to the newspaper, the leader of the People’s Party also appreciated the negotiations, and the PML-N also appreciated the proposal of negotiations.
Lawyer Farooq H. Naik stated that Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Tariq Bashir Cheema have also come, while Sabir Qaim Khani, Ayaz Sadiq, and BNP are also present from a QM. The government political alliance has a common position that the time for elections has passed in 90 days and the court has twice extended the date beyond 90 days.
Farooq H. Naik said that the political parties are already together for the elections the work has already started and Bilawal Bhutto met Maulana Fazlur Rehman in this regard, the political dialogue will be completed immediately after Eid within the government coalition. We will hold talks with PTI again to end the tension and we will try to create a political consensus through these dialogues.
Vakil People’s Party said that the election should be held on the same day as soon as possible and elections should be held by caretaker governments across the country, political matters should be settled between parties and nobody should interfere in political matters.
